About Us

Last updated: September 1, 2026

NewsCharcha is a news website that explains the day’s important stories in plain, simple English. It went live on September 1, 2026.

The idea behind it is small and specific. Most people do not have twenty minutes for a news story. They have three. But three minutes should still leave you actually understanding what happened, not just knowing that something happened.

Why this website exists

A lot of what passes for news online today is either too long or too complicated. Long paragraphs, heavy words, official language copied straight out of a press release. Add to that the flood of machine-written articles that fill a page with sentences nobody would say out loud, and the reader ends up scrolling to the bottom without learning anything.

NewsCharcha works the other way round.

One story explained properly is worth more than ten stories half-read. So this site publishes one or two pieces a day, written to be finished. Short paragraphs. Ordinary words. If a term needs explaining, it gets explained in the same sentence rather than left hanging.

The aim is simple: a 21-year-old reading on a phone and a 58-year-old reading on WhatsApp should both reach the end and both come away with the same understanding.

Who runs NewsCharcha

NewsCharcha is written, edited and managed by one person, Chirag Sawant.

There is no team behind this. No newsroom, no bureau, no group of freelancers filling a quota. Every story that goes up has been read, checked and edited by the same person whose name is on the site. That is a limit, and it is also the point. A single person publishing one or two stories a day can take responsibility for each one in a way a content mill cannot.

How stories are put together

Every article on NewsCharcha follows the same process.

Sourcing. Stories are built from published reporting by established news organisations, official government advisories, press releases, court and police documents, and statements made on record. The sources used for each story are listed at the bottom of that story.

Attribution. Claims are attributed to whoever made them. If a minister said something, the article says the minister said it. If an allegation has not been proven, it is described as an allegation. Contested claims are not presented as settled fact.

No invented details. If a fact is missing from the available reporting, it is left out or marked as unverified. Numbers, names, dates and places are not filled in with guesses.

Original writing. Stories are rewritten in NewsCharcha’s own words and are not copied from the outlets that first reported them. Where a quote is used, it is used exactly as it was said and credited to the source.

Corrections

Mistakes happen, particularly on a site run by one person. When they do, they get fixed and the fix is visible.

If you spot an error, write to contact@newscharcha.xyz Corrections to published articles are marked at the bottom of the article with the date and a note on what changed. Nothing is quietly deleted.

What NewsCharcha does not do

  • It does not publish rumours, forwarded messages or unverified claims circulating on social media.
  • It does not carry paid or sponsored articles disguised as news. If a piece is ever sponsored, it will say so at the top.
  • It does not give medical, legal, financial or investment advice. News stories on health, courts or money explain what happened. They are not a substitute for a doctor, a lawyer or a licensed adviser.
  • It does not publish content that attacks a community, religion, caste or region.

How the site is funded

Running a website costs money, even a small one. Domain renewal, hosting and the tools needed to publish all have to be paid for.

NewsCharcha plans to apply for Google AdSense so that advertising can cover these running costs. If and when ads appear on the site, they will be clearly separate from the articles. Advertising has no influence over what is covered or how it is written. Advertisers do not get to see, approve or change a story.

Publishing schedule

One to two stories a day is the target. Some days it will be one. The schedule bends before the standard does, because a rushed story helps nobody.
